An early lead helped Winona defeat Eminence 11-2 on Thursday. The Wildcats scored on an error in the 1st inning.
Winona pulled away for good with 1 run in the 2nd inning. In the 2nd, a sacrifice bunt by Jacob Romeo scored 1 run for the Wildcats. The cats put up 5 runs in the 3rd inning. Robert Kapp, Tanner Kalman, Kaiden VanWinkle and McCade Dixon each had RBI's in the big inning.
Dixon was credited with the victory for Winona. The righty went 4 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 8. Kapp threw 2 and 2/3 innings in relief out the the bullpen. Kapp recorded the last 8 outs to earn the save for the Wildcats.
H. Barrett took the loss for Eminence. The Redwing allowed 8 hits and 11 runs over 6 innings, striking out 3.
The Wildcats racked up 8 hits in the game. Kapp and VanWinkle each managed multiple hits for Winona. They each had 2 hits to lead the Wildcats. Zach Pulliam led Winona with 3 stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 9 stolen bases. Winona did not commit a singe error in the field. VanWinkle had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.
Eminence had 7 hits in the game. N. Taylor and P. Newton each had multiple hit for the Redwings.
